Muscle building without equipment

By: Rob R.

Achieving a good body without use of weights or expensive equipment is a simple matter of duplicating the same resistance to the muscle group your working on.

Isometric type exercises can produce enormous results if you put a good routine together and stick to it. Before you begin, don't forget to do some warmups and stretch out those stiff muscles.

Workout routines to build muscle without weights:

* Jamb Press: Find a door opening and stand directly centered facing the jamb where the door locks. Now place a hand on both sides of door opening and place your feet in a comfortable position. With your arms in a somewhat L shape, simply press right and left arms together (wall is between R and L hands) as hard as you can and hold it. Rest a little bit and do another set.

* Surface Top Presses: Find a hard surface that allows you to place your arms in front of you at chest height. If necessary you can sit down so your arms are at chest level. Place both hands on surface with your arms slightly bent and press down hard for as long as you can. Take a small break and do some more sets.

* Praying Hands: While standing or sitting erect, put your two palms together in a praying manner. Press together as hard as you can as long as you can. Again very effective in an L shape, or straight out.

* Pushups: Still a great exercise where no equipment is necessary. If you have trouble doing the conventional pushup ( body horizontal and knees and belly off floor) you can find a surface that allows you to do them on an angle, such as a couch or counter top. Just do them like a normal pushup, only on an angle.

Arms:

* Bicep Curls: Place both your elbows tight to your waist and hold out forearms palms up in L shape. Now take one arm and make a fist, placing it in the other palm. Press down while pushing up with the palm arm, keeping elbows tight to body. { Simulate curling dumbbells). Repeat both arms.

* Wall Press: Stand erect and sideways to a solid wall with one of your hips facing wall. Make a fist and place the side of the fist against the wall with your arm straight down. Now move away a lttlle bit so your hips and feet are about 12 in. from wall. Simply press as hard and as long as you can. ( Excellent for triceps and latoid muscles).

Abdomen:

* Crunches: Another dreaded effective exercise. When done right, you can get great abs. Lay down and bend knees with heel of feet about a 12 in. from your butt To get a full ab workout you want to also work the oblique muscles ( Just to the sides of your abdomen ). Now with hands clasped behind your head, bring yourself straight up slowly and hold about 6 in. off the ground for about 5 seconds. To do obliques, when you lift up, twist your torso slightly to the left and right. Do as many reps as you can.

* tummy flattener: Simply lay flat on the ground with your hands and arms tight to your side. Make sure your legs are straight and lift them up slowly so you can feel it working. Do as many as feesible and then try a set where you hold your legs at about 10 inches off the ground for as long as you can.

This is a short list of the exercises that can produce enormous results as long as you do them on a regular basis. It's always a good idea to incorporate cardio exercises into your program for a full body workout.

Dealing with Hypertension

By: Susan Price-johnson

Many people suffer from hypertension (also known high blood pressure). Blood pressure is essential to move blood from your heart through your veins and arteries. But when the pressure is too high it can become dangerous, making your heart work harder and increasing your risk for heart problems, such as heart attacks and strokes. Hypertension may also increases your potential risk for various problems such as kidney disease even blindness.

It is sometimes difficult to determine what exactly is causing the hypertension. It may be a variety of factors of health and lifestyle factors or it could be caused by something as simple as the medication that you are taking. High blood pressure caused by medication is referred to as secondary hypertension. It is almost impossible to determine if you have secondary hypertension without visiting your physician. Frequent checks of your blood pressure are required to determine whether your pressure in a safe range.

The good news is that hypertension is treatable. If you change your eating habits and make sure you get plenty of exercise you should be able to reduce your blood pressure. Your doctor may also prescribe certain medications that can help to lower your blood pressure but you should make these lifestyle changes as well. Reducing stress and learning how to deal with it is also beneficial.

Being overweight certainly contributes hypertension. Studies have shown that even losing is little as ten pounds may be beneficial in lowering blood pressure. If you begin exercising and eating healthy you should be able drop ten pounds quite easily. Just don't to lose the weight immediately. It takes time to gain weight and time to lose weight; you should focus on changing your habits of exercise and eating, not just on losing weight.

If you don't know how to go about losing weight, consider hiring a personal trainer through your local gym. You may only need a few sessions with a trainer to and in that time they can show you how to use the machines and to create an exercise program that will help you lose weight and become more active.

A nutritionist is also a good idea if you have poor eating habits. They will often have you write down for a week what you're eating and then come up with a plan that you can stick to. Nothing frightens people more than the prospect of trading their chicken fingers for carrot sticks. Nutritionists can help make the transition to eating healthy smooth and simple.

However, there are some ills in your lifestyle which will completely have to go such as smoking. Smoking not only harms your life but also puts at risk those around you with passive smoking. Smoking has got no good points and every time you smoke it increases your blood pressure and puts you at risk.

Hypertension is a very serious condition but that requires treatment. By making some changes in your lifestyle today you can combat the potentially dangerous problems that go along with hypertension. Even if you don't currently have problems with hypertension, you should quit smoking, start exercising, and start eating healthy. Eliminating health problems before they start is a great way to ensure you stay healthy and happy.

Comic Relief

Not This Time

There was a middle-aged couple that had two stunningly beautiful teen-aged daughters. They decided to try one last time for the son they always wanted. After months of trying, the wife became pregnant and sure enough, nine months later delivered a healthy baby boy. The joyful father rushed to the nursery to see his new son. He took one look and was horrified to see the ugliest child he had ever seen.

He went to his wife and said that there was no way that he could be the father of that child. "Look at the two beautiful daughters I fathered."

Then he gave her a stern look and asked, "Have you been fooling around on me?"

The wife smiled sweetly and said, "Not this time".

Anthony Robbins and His Personal Power Techniques

By: Kurt Schmitt

Anthony Robbins is world famous for being a master motivator and a top performance coach. He has worked with individuals, professional athletes, and companies both large and small.

Tony has opened up and shared his own personal story of success with the world through his seminars, audio and video learning series and books. He is well known for producing results with quick turnarounds. Tony's ability to help people quickly turn around any area of their lives is legendary.

In the 2001 comedy movie, Shallow Hal, Tony plays himself, and pokes fun at his ability to change people's lives. He hypnotizes Jack Black's character into seeing the world in a different way.

What Robbins may be most famous for are his infomercials, offering his Personal Power home audio course. This course may best be described as a complete approach to personal change.

With Personal Power, Tony's program brings together a number of different systems and techniques that people can use to change anything they want about their lives. It is packaged up in an audio course, which he personally recorded. This definitely gives it a personal touch and a flavor all its own.

As you go through the course, you get to hear not only Tony's techniques, but also his personal story as told by him. I found this course to be extremely effective. He's sometimes funny, sometimes excited, sometimes self-deprecating, but always demanding. This makes for an entertaining but results oriented program.

Motivational speakers and personal development gurus had been around for many years, but when Tony appeared on the scene, he took motivation to a more personal level. His system emphasized speed and results over the traditional, slower therapy methods. At the same time, he also brought his program to the masses.

What was at one time accessible only to high powered executives and corporations, Tony brought to you and me. By creating a system that could work for all, yet was individualized, he introduced us to the concept of a personal life coach, before we even knew what it was.

Before the Anthony Robbins home course, Personal Power, and its later version Personal Power 2, we read about Tony's techniques in his books. In Unlimited Power, for example, Tony describes neuro linguistic programming, or NLP, the system upon which many of his techniques are based.

NLP is used as a way of reprogramming your thinking in order create life change. It's focused on results and is a highly flexible, individual system for personal growth.

Tony describes how his NLP based techniques can empower us to take control of our lives and our futures. In fact, he tells you that if you master an understanding of how your brain works, you can become your own therapist and personal consultant. Tony says that you actually go beyond therapy, and are able to change any feeling or behavior for yourself in just moments.

I recommend you look into Tony's methods and see if they fit. I think you'll find, as I did, that the convenience of a home audio series is a valuable tool for both quick and lasting change.

Anthony Robbins has many loyal followers, as well as many detractors. His methods are powerful, to be sure, but in my opinion his most powerful methods work best if you're good at visualizing. If not, then you may have to work a bit harder in order to see progress. If you're ready for change, and willing to work for it, Anthony Robbins and his personal power techniques are for you.

Five Truths About Love: How To Have A Great Relationship

By: Tonja Weimer

What’s the truth about love? Do you think relationships don’t look the way they did in your parents’ generation? In fact—does it seem they don’t even look the way they did yesterday? When you recognize the five truths about love, you will be on your way to a stronger, more lasting relationship.

Many people feel overwhelmed by the fact that we live in a time when the marriage rate is going down, and well over half of first marriages will end in divorce. The cohabitation rate is going up, and the majority of first-born children are now born to unmarried parents. Those are the statistical realities of relationships today.

Somewhere, somehow, some people eventually do find each other. Not only that, but relationships have more promise than ever before, since we have more information and awareness than people had in years past. Relationships have an opportunity to be based on more than just wanting to get married, have a family, and be like everyone else.

Here are the five truths about love in this modern age. These are the qualities that support lasting love:

1. Mutual chemistry

This has always been part of the glue that holds a couple together. If it’s not there, you can’t make it happen, but when it is, it creates a compelling surge of emotion. However, if deeply held values are not honored, the chemistry can be transformed into rage and hostility. (Honesty, trust, and fidelity, are just a few values that must be present for most people.)

2. Equality

This means that both people carry their weight in the relationship. Each person has a high regard for the other. They do not seem out of balance as they bring their individual strengths to the partnership, sharing an equal intelligence, integrity, and responsibility.

3. Purpose

Every individual strives to discover what their purpose is and when they can share that with another, it’s what keeps the relationship authentic. Both people mutually support each other in finding and doing their true work. If they don’t support one another in their work, they may sabotage each other and their relationship.

4. Strong self-worth

Feeling worthy cannot be separated from mutual love. Until a person exercises deep personal care, they can’t take loving care of another. With the necessity of having strong self-respect comes the awareness and responsibility that everyone also has a past to clean up. When couples have conflict, it often stems from old emotional wounds that have left the person with some holes in their growth. A healthy person gets the help they need to defuse the problem. And a healthy couple is committed to working out the relationship, whatever it takes.

5. Listening

Listening to one another is essential. It takes continual practice and is based on compassion. Listening is more than hearing each other’s words. It encompasses also listening to and trusting your inner voice which will tell you when something is not quite right. In the new relationship, each person listens to themselves and to the other to make sure they are not just trying to be a "pleaser" because they do not want to jeopardize their connection. This kind of keeping the peace will eventually breed resentment and bitterness. This truth about love knows that there is something better than keeping the peace—it is called, deeply and lovingly hearing one another.

What are the main truths about love today? The truth is that we have a wider and braver landscape on which to build meaningful, enduring relationships. The truth about love is—you can find it, you get to keep it, and you deserve it.

Male Pattern Baldness Requires Careful Research

By: Marlene Baliss

Millions of men around the world suffer from thinning hair, and worry that they will soon become completely bald. There are a variety of reasons for hair loss, but male pattern baldness is the most common, and one of the most frustrating.

If you are one of those men, then take some time to research and learn a bit about the condition, as doing so may itself ease your mind to some degree. There are possible remedies that might help your situation, depending on the state of your hair follicles and so on. However, keep in mind that most men will have hair that thins with age, and many of them also develop bald patches on the scalp. You are not alone in this, that is certain.

There are a variety of potential sources and causes of male pattern baldness, and if you are in the early stages, it will be useful for you to know more about your particular situation, and whether or not there may be a solution that will suit your needs.

Genetics is the most common cause of male pattern baldness. Male or female genes are passed down to you from your ancestors, and that leads to this situation. A common culprit is dihyrdo-testosterone (DHT), which can interact negatively with your hormones. As you age, these compounds react more with each other, and lead to increased thinning of the hair, followed by baldness.

Testosterone changes as we age, and although scientists have not completely sorted out all of the specific cause and effect relationships between hormones and baldness, they continue to work on the problem. Our bodies normally produce enzymes that help hair grow. However, as we age, and as testosterone changes in composition, it can interact with these enzymes, leading to negative effect on hair growth.

Some men find that their hair is falling out in chunks, or that thinning is taking place more rapidly than expected. Please consult a doctor if this is happening to you, as these things are not normal for male pattern baldness, but rather indicate a more serious health problem. There are many diseases or disorders that can be the source of this, so the only way to determine the problem is to talk to a health professional as soon as possible.

If you are experiencing male pattern baldness, you will want to know about a variety of treatments that can prevent further thinning and loss. By understanding the causes, as well as knowing what you can do to prevent it, you will be more likely to find an effective treatment. This may result in a reduction in thinning, and healthier hair as you age. Male pattern baldness is a common genetic and hormonal problem suffered by many men, and there are ways for you to get help in addressing the problem.

But be warned that there is a long history of charlatans and cheats operating in the hair loss treatment industry. So be careful about accepting claims of unknown products or companies. Check with friends or family members who have experience with male pattern baldness, and tread carefully.

The Difference In Male And Female Sexual Arousal

By: Staggerlee

Arousal is the first step towards sexual satisfaction. However, there are differences between men and women and the speed in which they become aroused. The typical scenario is of the man who's raring to go, and the woman who needs
longer to become aroused.

This often causes problems in sexual relationships. Couples need to understand the differences between them and in the case of the man, have more patience and understanding. Their lovemaking will be so much better.

Men can become fully aroused in a matter of minutes, if not seconds. Men respond quickly and easily to fairly basic and often predictable triggers - a simple sight, sound, smell or touch. Most men have embarrassing stories about times when they've become aroused despite their best efforts not to.

For women sexual arousal is a slower, more unpredictable and complex process. Not only are women's bodies built differently than men, but they also think differently.

In general, men tend to focus on specific issues and goals, one at a time, rather than the "big picture". So, when sex is the focus, there is little to dampen arousal because, for the time being, sex is the only issue that matters. Never mind that the bills are past due, his job is headed down the toilet, or that his life is falling apart. All that matters at that moment is sex.

The opposite is true for women. Female sexuality is intricately linked to everything else in her life. Her emotions, stress levels, feelings about herself and her surroundings and about the man she's with, all plays a part. With women, it's the big picture that counts.Women often find it difficult to separate one aspect of their lives from another. In fact, women are well known for their ability to devote their energies and emotions to several things at once.

However, to become aroused, a women need to let go of the big picture. This goes against the grain of her thinking, and subsequently, it takes a woman considerably more time than it does a man to feel "in the mood". While men may be able to block out other thoughts, women process a lot of information en route to arousal, consciously and subconsciously.

This isn't to say that a woman runs through a lengthy checklist in her head. It simply means that she needs time for the big picture to fade away for her focus to narrow down to the pleasures of the moment.

Depending on what's going on in the big picture, this process can vary as to lenght of time. The wise, intelligent male, although aroused and ready to go, will control himself and show more patience, thus giving his partner the time that she needs.
