Many people do aerobics to help them get in shape and stay that way. These are physical exercises that will increase your oxygen intake and your heart rate which in turn helps you to lose weight and be healthier. They include activities such as swimming, dancing and running. Today there is a new type of exercise that falls into this category called water aerobics. This type of aerobics has many advantages and they are flexible enough to be suited for anyone regardless of your age or physical condition. In fact, this is the most versatile type of exercise available today.

Water aerobics are great for people with physical limitations because of the buoyancy you experience when in water. This makes it possible to exercise and move around easier without putting a strain on your joints and muscles. This is why it is so great for people with disabilities. It is called a "non-weight bearing exercise" because when you are in water it supports most of your weight instead of your legs, hips and feet. If you want to change the amount of exertion that you put into the exercises all you have to do is change the speed that you are exercising.

If you hate the sweaty feeling that you get when performing exercises, then you will love water exercising. The water keeps you feeling cooler and more comfortable during the routine and helps reduce sweating. You can exercise anywhere you want to but, it would be better in a pool where the temperature can be adjusted to make sure you are not to hot or cold. Water aerobics are done in water that is only waist deep so you don't have to worry about whether or not you can swim. This is another thing that makes it so great.

People that are recovering from physical injuries or medical conditions that limit their movement can greatly benefit from water exercises. It is recommended for people who are overweight because it makes it easier for them to move around. If you want to start water exercising talk to your doctor to make sure it is safe for you to begin. Many doctors will recommend this type of exercise for their patients. For safety reasons you should never exercise alone and you need to avoid getting dehydrated by drinking plenty of water. If you have been putting off exercising because it was too hard for you, give water aerobics a try. It could be the answer you have been looking for.

Vitamins for Stress - Learn Which Ones You Should Be Taking

It may seem odd to talk about vitamins for stress but if there is one common element to us all it is the stress of daily life in the 21st century. Job stress, family dealings, children problems, boss issues, church, family, ridiculous government actions, excessive taxation...we could go on and on, couldn't we! Stress does affect our health -- we've certainly seen it in our own lives. In addition, as we age, we become even more vulnerable to the effects of emotional and physical stress.

Studies, in fact, prove that stress not only leeches vitamins and minerals from the body, but it can aggravate preexisting health conditions and even create health problems -- again, something we can personally testify to.

Now, perhaps, you can see why taking vitamins for stress is so important to your emotional health for stress does exhaust our natural defenses that activate stress hormones thus depleting nutrient energy reserves. However, there are vitamins for stress that actually restore equilibrium and allow us to cope. Let's talk about those now.

So, what vitamins do you need to counteract emotional stress? Experts say that the entire range of B vitamins are vital, including B6, B2, biotin, folic acid, riboflavin, thiamin, etc. Why is this so? Answer: Because the B vitamin complex counteracts fatigue brought on by stress and because the nervous and immune systems require a lot of B vitamins for proper function.

Biotin, for example, helps the body metabolize protein, fats, and carbohydrates. It is especially helpful during times of stress as it helps the body use glucose (blood sugar), promoting emotional equilibrium. In addition, with folic acid, research shows it may help depression -- a symptom of stress.

Other Nutrients
Besides vitamins, you need other nutrients that have been shown useful during times of stress, vitamin C as it supports the immune system during stress. Zinc as it too supports the immune system. Lysine, a amino acid, is useful as its anti viral power helps prevent cold sore and other virus replication -- signs of stress.

Another mineral is magnesium as it helps muscles to relax, something very useful during times of stress. One other thing you should consider is this: Look to specialty or trace nutrients as well as vitamins during stress as there are many specialty nutrients that have even greater impact than do vitamins and minerals. For example, an herbal like Gotu Kola has been shown to be able to soothe anxiety.

Among its many therapeutic benefits, Gingko Biloba as well has been shown to aid mental function, thus easing depression symptoms and the consequent anxiety. The amino acids tryptophan and tyrosine are beneficial as they help bolster the nervous system. Remember, vitamins are not to be viewed singly but as a whole for they truly are interdependent in their working in the body.

The more complementary and broad the vitamin supplement you're taking, the better its effects as it provides cross-functionality and synergistic support to the other vitamins. Alpha lipoic acid, for example, though little known, it helps improve the function of vitamins in the body but it's also a powerful antioxidant, neutralizing free radical damage that flourish during stress.

Don't forget about green tea extract -- it too is a powerful antioxidant, helping as well to soothe frayed nerves.

Precautions
As always, pregnant and/or nursing women should be cautions when embarking upon a new vitamin supplement plan. We advise you consult your doctor first. If you are taking prescription medications you could ingest a supplement that has, for example, a herbal extract that amplifies the effect of the drug.

How To Choose Vitamins for Stress
1. The supplements should be produced at pharmaceutical standard GMP registered facilities. Facilities that are GMP registered comply with the most rigid standards so as to minimize the possibility of product contaminants. (These are the same standards pharmaceutical companies in the United States are required to operate under as mandated by the FDA.)

Nutritional supplements are not regulated by FDA and as such fraud is rampant with many so-called supplements containing contaminants with 1 in 5 not having the ingredients as proclaimed on the label!

2. Ensure the supplement manufacturer has a Certificate of Analysis (COA) on file for review by you the customer thus confirming the potency of the herbal ingredients listed on the label. 3. Ideally, make sure the supplement does not contain any fillers or additives such as sucrose (sugar), starch, gluten, silica (sand) or any other artificial colors, dyes, or flavors.

4. When selecting vitamins for stress, make sure it has the full complement of vitamins and minerals as outlined above -- especially the B complex of vitamins.

5. When multivitamin supplements have herbs, look for standardized herbal extracts. This preserves the active ingredients of the herbs, preserving its therapeutic capability.

Evolution of Healthy Diets

First there is the standard American diet. This diet makes people fat and sick. Then there is the vegetarian diet. All plant foods have plenty of fiber unless it is taken out like with refined wheat and white rice. Animal foods have no fiber. Fiber keeps your colon clean and healthy reducing your chances of cancer and cardiovascular problems. Four thousand studies show that fruit and vegetables prevent cancer. Meat encourages the growth of cancer.

People in China eat mostly plant foods and have a much lower rates of cancer and cardiovascular disease than Americans. Plant foods have a lot of unsaturated fat while meat has a lot of saturated fat. The unsaturated fats are healthier for you than the saturated fats. Some vegetarians eat eggs and dairy products. Dairy products create sinus and respiratory problems. Since donuts and jelly beans are vegetarian, people can eat a very unhealthy vegetarian diet. The most basic rule to eating healthy is to eat foods made by God or nature and avoid foods made by man that are designed to make you fat and addicted to food since that is best for their business.

Albert Einstein, Leonardo Da Vinci, Socrates and Pythagoras were vegetarians. Current vegetarians include Brad Pitt, Pamela Anderson, Dustin Hoffman, Kate Winslet, William Shatner, Avril Lavigne, Paul Newman, Chelsea Clinton (daughter of President Bill Clinton and Senator Hillary Clinton), Paul McCartney, Shania Twain, Paul Newman, Drew Barrymore, Clint Eastwood and Allysa Milano.

Then there is the more restrictive vegan diet that Natalie Portman follows. This means eating no animal products including dairy products. Then there are even more restrictive diets than this. One is the fruitarian diet where people eat only fruit. This includes foods that come from the reproductive system of the plant like nuts, seeds, eggplant, cucumbers, pumpkins, tomatoes and more. With this diet, no plants are killed or harmed. The one that is popular now is the raw food movement. Raw foodists eat only raw food or mostly raw food and this food is also vegan food.

This diet is close to how animals eat. But there is a diet that is just like what the animals use. The animals know what is good for them by instinct. How does their instict work? They just eat whatever tastes good. Humans also have this instinct. They eat raw food and whatever tastes good is good for them. This way you do not need to worry if the oxalic acid in spinach prevents the absorption of calcium or if oranges are bad for people with certain blood types and all this nonsense. This is why babies are always putting things in their mouth. Their instinct will tell them if it is bad for them. Note that man can make rat poison that tastes like healthy food but kills the rat. So eating the foods that tastes the best does not include foods altered or cooked by man.

Put raw poisonous mushrooms (toadstools) in your mouth and you will spit them out since they taste so bitter. But if they are cooked, you can eat them and die. So if you are stranded in the woods with no food, you can use this to find good food to eat. It is possible to overeat raw foods when they are mixed together. But animals in nature eat only one food at a time. If you do this, then you will never over eat a food. You will not want any more when you have had enough. This is how the animals eat. Also this applies to any raw food even if it is not vegetarian.

This diet is called the instincto diet. People on this diet will try eating anything raw. It could be that many of the benefits of eating raw food comes from eating no salt (or very little). Salt was never a food. Put 3 ounces of salt in water and drink it and you will die. Salt causes water to not be able to work. That is why you can die of dehydration being on a raft in the ocean surrounded by trillions of gallons of water. Vitamins and minerals have a minimum R.D.A. (recommended daily allowance). But sodium has a maximum R.D.A.

Kevin Trudeau (author of the best selling Natural Cures) believes that the raw food diet is the healthiest diet but he does not follow it now. There are many people that are against eating 100% raw. But (and this is a big but) they don't suggest what percentage of raw food is best, whether it be 95% or 5%. By not eating meat, you do more to help the ecology of the planet and protect against global warming than doing anything else including switching to a hybrid car. In a groundbreaking 2006 report, the United Nations (U.N.) said that raising animals for food generates more greenhouse gases (carbon dioxide, methane and nitrous oxide) than all the cars and trucks in the world combined!

7 Signs Your Honey May Cheat

Most of us - even the not-so-jealous types - know that feeling of, "Is my sweetheart really working late... or could this person be two-timing me?" I've counseled many individuals dealing with this concern, so let me share my knowledge with you about the signs that someone is cheating (or seriously contemplating it). Use this information and insight-and either stop worrying or have a serious talk with your partner!

Sign #1: Your honey keeps you a secret from his/her family & friends

Cheaters keep you in the dark while they play in the light. Your relationship won't work if you're getting what I call the Shadow Treatment. The Shadow Treatment means that you are often kept waiting in the wings while your mate is out socializing. Think about it: Are there gatherings of friends, family reunions or workplace parties that you are not invited to? Do you only meet some of your honey's network of friends? If you are kept on the sidelines, there's probably a good reason. Maybe your honey is on the prowl for someone else. Or perhaps there is already someone else and so your role in his or her life can't be made public. Anytime you are kept on the fringes once you believe you are an exclusive couple, be suspicious. And know that the only way to end Shadow Treatment is to stop accepting it. Once you challenge it, you will either be fully accepted in your sweetheart's life... or know it's time to leave.

Sign #2: Your honey is emotionally absent

Cheaters conceal their emotional whereabouts so they can be evasive about their physical whereabouts. Love is exhausting when you have to pry the truth out of a partner.

Consider this story: After enjoying a platonic friendship for a decade, Margaret and Roy began dating. Roy was a traveling sales manager. While he was on the road, Margaret heard from him only occasionally. But he continued to say he wanted to spend more time with her-which he never did. Margaret was obviously a low priority for him. She was shocked to learn he had another girlfriend across the country.

An emotionally absent partner may say what you want to hear, but will not change his or her actions-unless he or she wants to. Saying the right thing and doing the right thing are very different. If your honey talks a good game about spending more time with you and paying more attention to you but never delivers-look out! This person may be juggling multiple relationships.

Sign #3: Your honey says he or she wants a no-strings-attached romance

If someone says, "I don't want a commitment," take the sucker at his or her word. Don't fall into that "I'll be the one to change all that!" trap. Cheaters rebel against control and might even have an affair to spite a partner who wants to rein him or her in.

Too often, people ignore the clear message a potential date sends. If someone tells you, "I'm not into serious relationships," "I won't give up my freedom," "I'm not ready to settle down," or anything resembling that, take a giant step back! He or she is clearly telling you, "I want to play the field." If you pursue the person anyway, hoping for an exclusive relationship, you may find yourself two-timed and broken-hearted. Never push a person into a situation he or she doesn't want to be in. Never pursue a committed relationship with someone who tells you he or she doesn't want one.

Sign # 4: Your honey admits to cheating on exes-and justifies the betrayals

Cheaters rationalize their behavior to let themselves off the hook. The way they justify their actions tells much about their character.

Listen to the excuses for past cheating your honey uses. Here are a couple I've heard from clients in my therapy practice over the years:

* "My ex was abusive because of a drinking problem, so I deserved to see someone kinder on the side."

* "My father cheated on my mom, so cheating on my girlfriend is how I'm working through my past."

Everyone has a tale to tell. But are these rationalizations - or any rationalizations - acceptable to you? A person who admits to infidelities in the past and explains them away has a good chance of straying again. He or she has not taken responsibility for past actions, nor worked through the issues involved.

Sign #5: Your honey has never been without a mate

Cheaters won't ride solo... ever! Leaving one romance and hopping into a new one - or having simultaneous affairs at once - doesn't leave time for assessing whatever went wrong. They don't bother with introspection; their focus is squarely set on pulling new people into their orbit. If you are dating a person who shares a romantic history that always involves finding a new partner before breaking up with the current partner, take heed. This person may think of his or her mate only as void-fillers. Filling a void is never a basis for lasting love.

Sign #6: Your honey tells lies about little things

Cheaters lie about everything, which leads you to question their truth from their fiction. When the need to embroider overshadows the desire to be honest, the relationship becomes a sham.

Craig's friend set him up on a blind date with divorcée, Alice, who was a top attorney in town with no children. Each time they were together, Alice described her interesting caseload. Craig was fascinated-and falling hard. He was so caught up in her charismatic personality that he chose not to focus on the fact that some of her stories contradicted themselves, and that Alice seemed to change certain details as she got further into her story sharing. One day, the local newspaper featured someone who had been indicted for impersonating an attorney. He was shocked to find that it was Alice, and that she was a wife and mother as well! Alice had lied to both Craig and his friend.

If you are dating someone who seems to be untruthful about mundane topics - where he or she had lunch, what he or she is doing on Sunday morning - take note. The lies probably run deep. As my Gilda-Gram warns, "Without truth, there is no love."

Sign # 7: Your honey brags about his or her sex appeal

Cheaters are insecure, and need to attract constant attention on the side. They flaunt their popularity in attempts to boost their own low self-esteem. Let me give you an example: Marilyn met a "hot guy" on a singles cruise, and the pair became inseparable for the week. When they returned home, they spoke to each other constantly. He sent her a plane ticket to visit him. While together, Hot Guy boasted that he was his town's "go-to" guy for all the lonely women. Instead of Marilyn reading that as a sign to stay away, she interpreted his description of himself as "cute."

Visiting her two weeks later, he said he was available throughout the week-except for a lunch date he had with a woman he had just met. Marilyn found that peculiar, but said nothing. After a dinner party, he detailed how many women had come on to him. Marilyn began feeling disrespected and put down. Finally, after crying herself to sleep, she told Hot Guy he was too hot for her.

If a partner boasts how in demand he or she is, recognize how insecure he or she really is-and steer clear. This person probably needs more ego-stroking than any one person can provide... and will look where he or she has to in order to find it.

So now you know the signs that indicate that maybe your honey isn't such a honey after all. Life and love are all about learning. Remember this Gilda-Gram: "Everyone who touches you, teaches you." Instead of getting bummed out about a cheater who stole your heart, think of what you learned, and how your experience got you to grow. Your new insight will arm you to attract someone more trustworthy in the future.

THE HEALING MIND: It makes drugs and sugar pills work

We all talk about the healing powers of the mind, and a new study has underlined just how important it is.  Researchers have discovered that a placebo or sugar pill can be just as effective as a prescription drug – provided the patient believes the therapy will work, and he follows the prescription religiously. 

Researchers from Alberta University made the astonishing discovery when they analysed the findings of 21 studies that involved more than 46,000 heart patients.  Of these, nearly 20,000 were taking a placebo.

But it wasn't the drug or the placebo that determined if the patient lived – it was purely down to his decision to stick to the 'three times a day' regime laid down by the consultant.  Both groups fared equally as well, and recovered in a similar time.

Only those patients who cheated, and didn't keep to the regime, were the ones who didn't survive, again irrespective of whether they were taking a drug or a placebo.  Overall, it's reckoned that one in four people don't take the drugs as prescribed them. 

The researchers say that the most important aspect of the findings is drug therapy adherence.  It's not, of course – it's just believing that something will do you good, and lo and behold, it does.

The mind is like that. We have amazing powers to heal ourselves. Many studies done on the power of the Placebo point to the fact that in a lot of cases, the healing occurs in the patient independent of the power of the drug. This indeed makes drug testing difficult..

Kama Sutra Positions

The Kama Sutra is a famous part of Sanskrit Literature and is considered to be the standard work on love. A part of the Kama Sutra tackles the sexual behaviors of human as well as describes the types of men and women, and provides a detailed description on positions used in love making.

The love making positions described in the Kama Sutra have become interpreted in a Tantric way, making the positions relevant to a spiritual practice. There are five basic positions in the Tantric interpretation of the Kama Sutra:

- Man lying on his back with the woman on top
- Woman lying on her back with the man on top
- Man and woman both lying on their sides facing each other
- Woman with her back to the man
- Man and woman in seated positions, typically facing each other

Each of these positions may have several variations and are said to bring a vast array of sensations to all the different couples that have tried them. Different individuals are more inclined to try different positions detailed in the Kama Sutra. These positions may be classified into larger groups such as Sitting positions, Rear Entry positions, Standing Positions, and Role Reversal positions.

Sitting positions of the Kama Sutra comes in different varieties but generally involves both man and woman in a sitting position. Some of the common positions are The Tortoise, The Moneky, Crushing Spices, Striking, The Foot Yoke, The Svastika, The Swing, The Knot of Fame, and Victory. All of these positions have corresponding Hindu names that best describe the poses involved.

Some of the Kama Sutra positions that allow for rear entry are the dog, the Deer, the Gardabha, the Cat, the Wrestler, Aibha, Hastika, The Stride, One knot, and the Nagabandha. All of these positions involve the woman with her back facing the man.

The Kama Sutra positions that require both man and woman to stand during the act of love making are the Churning Curds, Face to Face, the Swing, Traivikrama, Tripadam, Veshta, the Palm, two palms, and the Janukurpara or the Knee Elbow.

Some positions described in the Kama Sutra are referred to as a reversal of roles for both men and women. These positions include the Upasripta or Natural, the Manthana or Churning, The Hula which is also known as the Double edged Knife, the Avamardana or Rubbing, the Piditaka or Pressing, the Nirghata or the Buffet, the Varahaghata or the Boar’s Blow, the Vrishaghata or the Bull’s Blow, the Chatakavilasa which is also referred to as the Sparrow Sport, the Samputa or the Jewel Case, the Seat of Sport or Lilasana, the Swan, the Upavitika or Sacred Thread, the Reversed or Viparitaka, and the Foot Yoke.
