Do You Really Want It...Or Just Dream It?By: Dave Osh“What is your dream?” This is what Ainsley asked me last month. Without hesitation I started pitching my personal resolutions as you have learned in my last article “The Single Most Important Decision You Can Make This Year…” Ainsley stopped me abruptly. '”What are your real dreams”? “Real dreams?” I wondered. “What do you mean ‘real dreams’? I want to be financially free, I want to have...” “No, what did you dream when you were a child? Don't tell me you dreamed about being financially free when you where 9 years old” she laughed. I felt like lightning was striking me. Of course I didn't dream about being financially free when I was 9 years old. Even not 13 years old. My biggest dream was…ok, promise you don’t laugh…to be a Tarzan or a James Bond world saver. Well, I am still having these dreams. Nothing changed in the last 40 years. But dreams are dreams and most times they are beyond our potential. There is no way in the world I will be raised again by a gorilla in the Jungle. The chances I will be hired by the CIA or MI5 are very slim too. But on the other hand I achieved many of my most ambitious goals. I have started an internet business, wrote books, transformed my body and my life, run global corporations and more. The secret is you should ultimately distinguish between your goals and your dreams. Your goals must be followed by a specific plan to accomplish them. If you dream is to be a NASA astronaut, you are 40 years old, not a scientist or a jet pilot, lets face it, you probably won’t be an astronaut. But let’s say you want to be a millionaire but you are a salaried employee. If you change your spending habits, adopt disciplined saving practices and invest smartly in high yield, long term, low risk investments like real estate, you have a very high chance to hit your goal. If you don’t believe it, read the book “The Millionaire Next Door” by Thomas J. Stanley and, William D. Danko. It is the same thing about changing your body to a healthy, sexy and attractive one. I have met too many people swearing that they want to get fit. I don’t think they really want it. It might be just a “dream”. If you really want to transform yourself to a healthy, fit, attractive version of yourself, here is the good news. You have 100% chance of succeeding. It’s only a matter of planning your work and working your plan. It has been proven many times that the right exercise and right eating habits will make your life much more enjoyable. But there is a caveat. You have to want it. Really want it. Not just dream it. If you really want it, you will have the will power to follow a reasonable plan toward success. If you cannot follow the plan, you don’t really want it. I’m facing every day many temptations to deviate form my eating and exercise habits. It can be the need to sleep in and hence skipping the gym, birthday cake, a late pizza delivery to the office. You name it. I pass most of them (never really perfect). I love the way I look and feel. I’m in my peak performance and best shape ever. My libido has skyrocketed. My energy is higher than in my high schools days. I almost run in my office, rather than walking “late forties executive style”. You can do it without a doubt if you can make one simple decision. Define what you really want. Take action to achieve what you want. Your dreams will still wait for 10, 20, 30 years from now. But you will already have achieved what you want. Are you willing to move forward? Yes! So just do it NOW. Not tomorrow. Not later on today. Not on the weekend. In 10 to 30 minutes from now you have the chance to change your life and start an amazing journey toward achieving what you want and leave the dreams for a while to Hollywood producers. No matter the reason, many people try harsh diets that never work, extreme exercise regimens that result in injuries or other weight loss program that end without success. The reason that none of these weight loss methods seem to work is because in order to stay with a program, you have to enjoy it. Not only that, but it has to be safe as well. Below are 5 genuine tips to weight loss, which almost anyone can do without tossing out their favorite food or spending every spare minute in the gym. Realistically, any weight loss program will take time. If anyone promises you different, they are either not being completely honest or are simply uninformed. Follow one single weight loss program for 30 days, whatever it may be, and see if you have results. If not, move on to something else. In the meantime, check out several tips to getting started today. Tip # 1 Walking. If you can set aside 30 minutes every day to enjoy a leisurely stroll, you will be strengthening your legs and your heart while burning some calories in the process. Tip # 2 Use a mini cycle. These portable little exercise units offer the look of bicycle pedals set up on a metal bar, but without the high price or weight of a standard exercise bike. With a min cycle, you can pedal at your desk, on the couch or anywhere else that you can comfortably set and reach the pedals. Tip # 3 Walk or take the stairs instead of an elevator. This is a terrific weight loss exercise without even noticing the extra effort. Something as simple as a few extra steps every day can go a long way where weight loss is concerned. The next time you go to the store, park in the middle of the parking lot and walk to the store. Avoid parking in the closest spot to the door, which is tempting, but opt to walk instead. Tip # 4 You don’t necessarily have to cut out all of your favorite foods, but you should eat them in moderation. There is no single food that will completely hinder your weight loss attempt but, if consumed excessively, it may. For instance, simply limit your intake to one candy bar or, if you are being really careful, a miniature candy. There is no reason to cut out your favorite food when a conservative amount of the things we love can still have a place in our lives, including during the times that we are focusing on weight loss. Tip # 5 Whatever your exercise routine, set aside a certain time each day to do it. Individuals who set a routine are much more likely to stay with it and find success than those who simply exercise whenever they have time. The goal to successful weight loss is to make time. in Wedding Party
A little boy was in a relative's wedding. As he was coming down the aisle he would take two steps, stop and turn to the crowd (alternating between bride's side and groom's side). While facing the crowd, he would put his hands up like claws and roar. So it went, step, step, “ROAR,” step, step, “ROAR,” all the way down the aisle. As you can imagine, the crowd was near tears from laughing so hard by the time he reached the pulpit. The little boy, however, was getting more and more distressed from all the laughing, and was also near tears by the time he reached the pulpit. When asked what he was doing, the child sniffed and said, "I was being the Ring Bear." Resveratrol Promises Fat Control, Lasting Health and LongevityBy Mel ThompsonWhy are people in France less likely to die of heart attacks than Americans despite similar high cholesterol diets? The answer, we all know, is the French consume greater amounts of red wine which protects their hearts. This "French paradox" was the subject of a study widely publicized by its coverage on 60 Minutes. That study identified resveratrol as the active ingredient in red wine responsible for protecting the heart. As a result of that study and others, the scientific community began taking resveratrol seriously. Venture capitalists have even invested in further research to find a longevity pharmaceutical based on resveratrol. According to a leading resveratrol website and other sources, recent studies have concluded that: • Adding resveratrol to the diet of yeast, fruit flies, worms, and a species of fish increased their life spans up to 70%, 29%, 24%, & 50% respectively; • Resveratrol is the key ingredient in red wine that helps prevent damage to blood vessels, reduces "bad" cholesterol and prevents blood clots; • Resveratrol has potent antioxidant activity; • Resveratrol made fat related deaths drop 31% in obese mice. The resveratrol-fed obese mice also performed much better in movement and agility tests than obese mice not fed resveratrol; • Mice fed resveratrol had 100% more endurance than mice not fed resveratrol (i.e. they were able to run twice as far on a treadmill); • Resveratrol protects circulation and heart function by inhibiting platelet aggregation, which can lead to dangerous clots that can cause heart attacks and strokes; • Resveratrol has been proven to fight cancer in the laboratory at all three stages; (1) initiation, (2) promotion, and (3) progression. Resveratrol is found in the skin of grapes and in red wine, as well as in blueberries and peanuts. Its powerful antioxidant effect can help prevent cell damage caused by free radicals (free radicals are unstable atoms caused in part by pollution, sunlight, and our bodies natural burning of fat that can lead to cancer, aging, and brain degeneration). The resveratrol in red wine comes from the skin of grapes used to make wine. Because red wine is fermented with grape skins longer than is white wine, red wine contains more resveratrol. Simply eating grapes, or drinking grape juice, has been suggested as one way to get resveratrol without drinking alcohol. Some studies have suggested that red and purple grape juices have some of the same heart-healthy benefits of red wine. Research led by David Sinclair and Joseph Baur at the Harvard Medical School and by Rafael de Cabo at the National Institute on Aging concluded that drugs taken orally "at doses achievable in humans can safely reduce many of the negative consequences of excess caloric intake, with an overall improvement in health and survival." According to the New York Times, their report, published in Nature in October 2006, implies that very large daily doses of resveratrol could offset the unhealthy, high-calorie diet thought to underlie the rising toll of obesity in the United States and elsewhere, if people respond to the drug as mice do. The research in mice given resveratrol also indicated the antioxidant could help protect them from obesity and diabetes, both of which are strong risk factors for heart disease, according to the Mayo Clinic. How does resveratrol extend life in certain organisms? Resveratrol is believed to activate an enzyme which extends cell life by 'coercing' cells to repair themselves as opposed to dying. So resveratrol extends the lives of individual cells and the lives of the 'host' organisms are extended as a result. The mice in the Harvard/NIA study were fed a hefty dose of resveratrol, 24 milligrams per kilogram of body weight. Red wine has about 1.5 to 3 milligrams of resveratrol per liter, so a 150-lb person would need to drink 750 to 1,500 bottles of red wine a day to get such a dose, if, in fact, human dosing needs to be proportional to the doses given mice. By comparison, a typical resveratrol extract dose contains 20 mg. Resveratrol extracts provide the heart-health longevity benefits of red wine without the alcohol, sulfites, headaches or excess calories. Any herbal extract should be standardized. Standardization of an extract assures specific, measurable levels of the important compounds that benefit the body. Standardized extracts need to be GMP compliant. (GMP is a subset of Food and Drug Administration regulations.) As always, check with your doctor before taking herbal or diet supplements and starting a weight loss program. The largely overlooked associations are the employer-employee partnership and professional partnership. Your ability to thrive, in your professional endeavors, at all times depends on how healthy your association is. Your growth also means more benefits for your partner, whether an employer or a colleague with whom you exchange ideas, services or products. In ecological studies, one is exposed to a variety of associations, including parasitic-where an organism, like blood suckers, feeds and survives at the expense of a host. The host may die thus leading to the death of the parasite. That's a detrimental association. In a symbiotic relationship, both organisms survive and live together. A symbiotic relationship is the association where two different species live together, each benefiting, in one way or another, from its associate. Take a rhino and a certain species of birds-they live symbiotically. Each depends on the other for survival. The rhino has ticks that the bird needs for food. The bird helps the rhino in two ways. It remove ticks from the rhino's body and when it (the bird) sees an animal that might attack the rhino, it jumps up and down making the rhino know it is time to run for cover. They need each other. If you build and treat your employer-employee partnership or professional association from a symbiotic relationship perspective, you increase your odds of always having a job, professional growth or business opportunities. The resources that you need to thrive under different circumstances will be within your reach in most cases. Here are top on how to benefit from a symbiotic relationship. 1. Be governed by one motive-that, "What you do for yourself can get you by. What you do for others is what will get you ahead; whether in your profession, spiritual pursuits or relationships." 2. Know what the other party wants from the association. What skills do your think your employer needs to be profitable? What services, ideas or products does the other party want by associating with you? 3. You must be clear on what you want from the association before you waste your time, energy or even tangible resources. 4. Commit to give your best for the survival and thriving of the other party. Think about it, it's hard to be the first one to be downsized by a company that you have helped become profitable. It's hard for another party not to give you businesses if you have helped them succeed. 5. Always check with the other party to see whether or not it is still satisfied with your input, or your quality of services or products. 6. Be courageous enough to share ideas on how things can be improved, whether you are rewarded for your ideas or not. 7. Keep improving what you offer to the association, even when the improvement is not expected. 8. When things change, notify the other party before they learn about it from another source. Thai MassageBy: Sharon HopkinsWhat is Thai Massage? Thai massage is a traditional form of massage therapy that has been used in Thailand for centuries. In Thailand, it is called “Nuad Phaen Boran” which means ‘ancient massage’. It is based on the Indian medical system of Ayurveda and incorporates many ancient Indian Yogic techniques. How does Thai Massage work? Thai massage combines elements of Shiatsu, Yoga, and acupressure. It aims to clear blockages in the energy meridians of the body by applying a healing touch to the affected pressure points. Once these blockages are removed, energy flows freely throughout the body and this leads to relief from ailments and overall improved physical and mental health. The technique of soft touching and stretching also frees the tension in the limbs and muscles and brings about pain relief and improves flexibility. A typical massage session lasts for about two hours. The massage is administered on mat or firm mattress kept on the floor. The patient changes into his or her pajamas and lies down on this mat. The practitioner will then follow a pre-determined sequence of massage steps that involve the use of hands, elbows and feet. The massage follows the flow of the energy meridians on the patient’s body. A number of techniques such as soft pressure, pulling fingers and toes, walking on the patient’s back and gentle stretching are used to free the blockages in these meridians. Oil is normally not applied during the therapy session. At the end of the massage session, both the receiver and the therapist feel relaxed and energized. Benefits of Thai Massage Thai massage is a holistic massage therapy that focuses on the body as a whole. By recognizing the inter-dependence of all the systems of the body, it aims to cure ailments by bringing all these various elements into harmony with each other. By removing blockages in the energy meridians, it promotes an increase in the energy levels of the patient. This soothing massage therapy also helps to calm the mind and remove stress from the body and mind of the patient. The soft physical pressure and stretching techniques bring about pain relief, relieve muscular tension, and increase the flexibility of the muscles and limbs. It also helps in harmonizing imbalances in the nervous system. Thai massage also improves blood and lymph circulation. The holistic approach used ensures that the patient enters a state of deep relaxation and refreshes the spirit. Practical Ways Of Improving Your Self EsteemBy: Roy ThomsittHaving a low self esteem can arise for many and complex reasons, and different causes may require different remedies. However, there are some common themes amongst those who suffer from a lack of self esteem, and alongside them come some partial solutions which, when brought together, may help you to start increasing your self regard. Once you start that process, it can then become a much easier task to eliminate your low self esteem altogether. It can sometimes be very difficult to view yourself in a detached and critical way, without emotion intervening, and that is especially so if your self esteem is not at a tolerable level. However, it can be a great help if you can devote some initial time in self examination, and to find if there is a pattern to your feelings. If you can pinpoint those moments when your esteem is, in your eyes, at its lowest, and also at its highest, you will probably find some clues as to how you may improve the way you feel. Something very important to remember is that, although you may not think too highly of yourself at any one moment, others may see you differently and more positively. In fact, everybody will see you from different angles, and with different results. You are an individual, and so is everyone else; what that means is you have a self image and a different image to everyone else you ever meet. That image is one you make into what you want, if approached in the right way and with patience. How differently you may appear to others can be quite stunning, when compared to the way you feel. Once on a management course I had to do a mock presentation to a senior executive, based on quite a large volume of reading material. It was February in England, and I had just come back to work that day after 2 weeks of flu, commuted for over 2 hours, and felt awful. What was more overwhelming was that my personal life was in emotional turmoil, and was about all I could think of. I felt dire, but had to do the presentation, and to make it worse, have it videod and then criticised by others on the course, plus lecturers. When I watched that video, sitting with the “jury”, I could not believe I was watching me. I had felt terrible, but came across as calm, knowledgeable and in full control. I never once obviously referred to my notes, whereas others had. Yet I knew there were others on the course far more able than I. There are a couple of lessons that can be learnt from this: Firstly, I saw for the first time how differently you may be viewed from outside of yourself, and it is always worth bearing in mind that others in your life may be thinking very positively of you. Secondly, what carried me through on that occasion was simply my memory. My “natural” memory was not good, so when I had first started professional studies, I had bought a manual on improving memory. That was the only reason I could appear so confident to others, when I, quite frankly, felt like death warmed up. What, then, can you do with those two lessons? As far as the way others see you is concerned, try to spend some time focusing on the way different people react to you, and concentrate on those who are very positive and seem to like you, and respect you. It is a privilege to be liked and respected, so you are entitled to make the most of it and appreciate it. Try to see yourself the way they see you. If you feel happiest with those people, or even one of them, then try to understand why. If the opportunity arises, have yourself recorded on video with these people in a natural setting, just a home video. Better still, make that opportunity arise. Then watch that video and learn; see yourself happy and at your height in confidence. You will not be the person you feel inside. If you find there is a part of your life, such as work environment, where your self esteem is lowest, then work on building your confidence with the aim in mind of leaving that environment. A fresh start with people you have never even met before can be an ideal time to “reinvent” yourself. The important thing, though, is to make the most of the positives in your current situation, and give them greater emphasis. Over time, you can work on minimising or eliminating the negatives. When it comes to memory, that is a skill that can be applied in just about any situation. Used discreetly and naturally, without showing off, a good memory can make a very positive impression on others, and enhance your own life in many ways.
