How You Can Overcome The Age Of
Fatness
By: Christopher C.
Unfortunately,
the second half of my title rings true for many people across the world.
We are
truly in the “Age of Fatness.”
How many
people do you see day after day after day, overweight, out of shape,
looking like they can hardly walk (much less run)?
What are
we to do?
Why don’t
people seem to care anymore?
Why don’t
more people take pride in their general fitness level or their
cardiovascular fitness level?
I mean, we
sure as heck take pride in the clothes we wear, if they are perfectly
ironed and dry cleaned……if we have the perfect shoes to match the
perfect outfit……..
Some of
these people (men and women) will spend all day at the mall looking for
the perfect outfit or the perfect suit for a particular occasion. All
the while knowing dang well that they have a better chance winning a 1
on 1 basketball game with LeBron James than fitting into those clothes.
So, of
course, it’s time to go on a fad diet to lose those extra pounds to fit
in those clothes!!!
Right!
Right!
Sorry,
wrong answer.
I don’t
think I will ever understand why many of these same people don’t take a
lick of pride in what they eat or how they exercise everyday.
Any ideas?
Me neither.
Ok, Ok, I
am just kidding………I have all kinds of ideas.
First, let
me give you some “ideas” on why I think so many people are out of shape:
-Videogames
(the child obesity problem is seriously reaching epidemic
proportions……maybe, just maybe we should get our kids active in their
free time……I know this sounds crazy, but let’s give it a shot)
-TV (Need
I say more………there are many other avenues to occupy your free time.)
-Overeating
(Ahhh, yes…..these are the people with little or no self-control,
there’s always an excuse (by the way, I have some great nicknames for
men and women who LOVE excuses, maybe I’ll tell you later.), “Oh, the
food was right there”, “It was too good to put down”, “I’m always so
hungry, I have to eat (junk food, of course)”.
-Lack of
exercise and fat – There is definitely a big-time correlation between
these two. When all you do is go to work, come home, lie on the couch
and watch TV/movies, I’m going to guess that you’re probably not going
to be losing too much weight……just an educated guess though, lol.
This is
just an abbreviated list on the many reasons why people are fat, out of
shape, and couldn’t even defend themselves if they had to.
So, the
$64,000 question is………what are some ways to get you in shape (and I
don’t mean in the shape of a pear, melon, or apple). I mean in good
shape, great shape, lean shape.
Well, the
first thing to do is take a HONEST look at your everyday life, and see
how many things you can change for the better.
I’m
willing to bet (a lot, actually) that there are a multitude of ways
that you can change your everyday life to become more fit.
You don’t
have to change everything………yet.
Or ever.
But you
need to get going in the right direction.
Now.
Not
tomorrow, not next week, not after your vacation……
Now.
Why put
off something as important as your health???
Is it not
as much fun as eating bon-bons and potato chips?
Maybe.
But, let
me tell you, you will be having soooo much more fun in life when you
are fit, lean, and healthy.
Just ask
someone.
I’m
serious.
I dare you
to go ask someone who is in shape and takes care of their body.
Ask them,
“Chris C. told me to ask you why you take care of your body.”
Or ask
them, “Would you rather be fit like you are now, or fat and unhealthy?”
After you
ask them……….LISTEN.
They will
tell you all you need to know, not only in their words, but in their
body language.
Pay
attention how much happier they are and how much control they are over
their health and their life.
You can be
there too……..if you just get started.
Don’t wait.
The sooner
you start, the sooner you get to realize your goals.

Food Rich In Antioxidants
By:
D Fraser
Mankind is
so much concerned about lasting youthfulness and grabbing antioxidants
in the firm belief that it will hold youth perpetually, that other
important roles the antioxidants play in our lives are almost ignored.
For your information and guidance, let me remind you that antioxidants
are also silent workers, preventing age-related disorders like
arthritis, Alzheimer’s, etc.
Studies
have been revealed through a number of medical researches in different
continents that regular intake of food rich in antioxidants can save
patients from Alzheimer’s disease that has sadly become more common
than it ought to be throughout the world. Also true is the fact that
antioxidants have the ability to prevent and delay the onset of the
disease and its distressing symptoms. So food rich in antioxidants can
be extremely helpful.
From where
can we get antioxidants in the natural form?
There are
many different types of food rich in antioxidants that could provide us
with ample quantities of antioxidants to be readily absorbed into our
system. Do you know that fruits and vegetables containing vitamins C
and E are rich in antioxidants? Citrus fruits like lemon, orange,
mangoteens, etc. all are full of antioxidants. We may also obtain
antioxidants from cabbage, kiwi fruit, bean sprouts, whole grains, milk
and milk products, egg yolk and almost all varieties of nuts.
Unbelievable
though, our very familiar potato is a humble carrier of antioxidant as
are red beans, all types of berries, cereals, artichokes, pecans,
cinnamon and cloves. There will be no dearth of antioxidants in our
bodies if we merely take these usual vegetables. As food rich in
antioxidants, and when taken regularly, they are the better bet than
beef and pork.
Benefits
of taking food rich in antioxidants
The
benefits of taking food rich in antioxidants have practically no
boundaries today. Since they are available within the core of our most
known common vegetables, there is no harm in consuming them to our
heart’s content. Now do you understand why experts tell us to eat green
vegetables? There is no side effect either which synthetically prepared
antioxidants have.
These
naturally occurring antioxidants help with the prevention of most
diseases after the age of 65. The beneficial effect of antioxidants on
Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s is already known. So, the moment you cross
sixty, consider antioxidants your best friend and do justice to the
friend by consuming more and more of it.
Antioxidants
offer us a wonderful opportunity to live healthier and longer. So
particularly in the advanced years, go for food rich in antioxidants.
Vitamins, Supplements And The
Importance Of Water In A Healthy Diet
By:
Cathy Peterson
If you are
a person who is interested in developing an appropriate diet for health
living, there are three items that you should include in your overall
eating regimen:
-- vitamins
--
nutritional supplements
-- water
The
foundation of a diet for healthy living needs to be appropriate food
choices. You need to eat an appropriate balance of fresh fruits,
vegetables and low-fat meat products. You need to avoid food items that
contain trans-fats as well as refined, processed sugars.
Once you
have established the appropriate menus for your overall plan for
healthy living, you will want to consider how vitamin and other
nutritional supplements can support your food selections and choices.
It is vital to keep in mind that vitamins and nutritional supplements
are not designed to replace healthy food choices. Rather, these
products -- as the moniker “supplement” indicates -- are designed to
supplement your basic, healthy food choices and selections.
Along with
proper food choices and the addition of vitamins and nutritional
supplements, drinking an appropriate amount is absolutely necessary to
maintaining an appropriate weight and to pursuing a healthy diet, a
diet for healthy living.
As a
general rule of thumb, an adult who is not significantly overweight
should consume eight 8-ounce glasses of water each and every day. (Soft
drinks, coffee, milk and other beverages are not to be utilized as part
of the total water intake amount. However, some herbal, decaffeinated
teas can be used towards your overall water intake count on a given
day.)
A person
who is overweight will need to consume more water. Some experts suggest
that (in addition to utilizing vitamins and nutritional supplements) a
heavier person should take in not only the base eight glasses of water
daily but should also drink an additional 8-ounce glass for every ten
pounds he or she weights over and above his or her “ideal weight.” Of
course, if a person is morbidly obese, there is a line of water
consumption that cannot be crossed. You can only consume so much water
-- however, you do need to bear in mind that the more you weigh, the
more water that you will need to drink each and every day.
Finally,
in addition to using vitamins and nutritional supplements to enhance
any workout or exercise regimen that you include in your overall
healthy living plan or scheme, you need to increase your intake of
water when you do exercise.

Think About It
If you tell the truth you don't have to remember anything.
If you lend someone $20, and never see that person again; it
was probably worth it.
The journey of a thousand miles begins with a broken fan belt
and a leaky tire.
It's always darkest before dawn. So if you're going to steal
the neighbor's newspaper, that's the time to do it.

Dental Health: Important Steps To Keep
Your Beautiful Smile, Part 1
By:
Adrian Adams
Dental
health is very important to us all. Unless you want to have a full
mouth of dentures by the time you’re 40, it’s essential for you.
Unfortunately, there is no exact set of rules that everyone can follow
to get the same results. Everyone’s mouth is very different. Depending
on what food you eat, what medicine you take, and your oral hygiene,
your mouth is very different from someone else’s. This is why it is
very difficult for some to take care of their mouth, while it may be
very easy for you.
Think
about this for a second. All of us know someone who brushes three times
a day, flosses and they still have cavities when they go to the
dentist. You may be lucky enough that you only brush once a day and you
always have a good checkup. While a uniform code of conduct is just not
possible, you can come up with a plan for you. In fact, you must do
this. Developing a routine that works for you is very important to your
dental health.
In order
to do this, you must visit the dentist regularly. By regularly I don’t
mean once a week, but maybe a few times per year. Consult with your
dentist while there about a proper routine. Your dentist should be able
to tell you what is best for your mouth. After all, they do see every
angle of it during a checkup. If you’re on medication, there’s a chance
that you experience dry-mouth. This condition affects your dental
health greatly.
Your diet
also has a great deal to do with how healthy your teeth are. Obviously,
if you eat sweets frequently, you’ll need to take better care of your
teeth than someone who doesn’t. If you sleep with your mouth open,
you’re more likely to develop gingivitis. Many people have sleep
conditions that only allow them to breathe through their mouth. All of
these factors must be taken into consideration when formulating a
routine for your mouth. Your dentist can help you sort through all of
these things and find a plan that works for you.

Life is Like an EKG
By:
Ellie Drake
Life is Like An EKG.
When your
doctor reviews your latest EKG graph with you, you’ll notice that
the lines
of the graph go up and own. This is evidence of a healthy heart,
with life
force and vitality. If the graph were flat, devoid of ups and downs,
you simply
would not be alive.
This is a
microcosm of life. Yet we resist the downs, and feel anxious about the
ups
because of the responsibility that may come attached to them. In
essence, we
seek a
flat line. But life has no room for the “flat line” dynamic. So we
choose
to embrace
that which is – both the ups and the downs. Miraculously, this tends
to
strengthen our heart – meaning our essential self.
Let’s talk
about when the lines of life’s EKG verge down. At these times, we must:
strengthen
our ability and recall our willingness to see divine order within the
external
challenges;
be
resolved to face our challenges in good faith; resist feeling
overwhelmed by them;
look into
them, exploring their mysteries not merely to solve them, but also to
observe
any
lessons that we are meant to learn;
resist
becoming depressed by what we see and feel;
reject the
wrong-headed notion that we deserve to feel troubled; learn the lesson,
then go on
to implement that which we have learned;
pray for
strength and wisdom to effectively flow with these challenges, instead
of
praying
for them to be taken away because we don’t think we can handle them;
and have
gratitude at all times.
Then, as
they always do, circumstances will eventually change. Soon you will
enter
the upward
trend of your life’s EKG. When in that phase: fearlessly embrace
whatever
new
responsibilities come with the package; take no ego credit for the
improvement;
realize we
have co-created, and therefore be more humble than proud; be ready and
willing to
assist others with our accomplishments and blessings;
remain
grounded, knowing good results are becoming the norm for us,
not a rare
instance that calls for elation; remain unattached to our
accomplishment;
and hold
firmly to our attitude of gratitude.
Observing
these precepts, we will never again lose our sense of center,
our
contact with our essential self, whenever life’s EKG changes direction.
We will
know it means that we are alive and, as always, blessed.

How
To Touch Your Woman -- Smart Advice For Men
By:
Jessie Dingler
Touch is a
critically important part of any relationship. Whether you're trying to
move your relationship to the next level, ignite an old flame, or
simply build her interest for you, men need to know how to touch a
woman.
Sadly, men
aren't born with this knowledge. Many wonder why their relationships
aren't more successful, not knowing just how important touch is for
most women. Knowing the right time, the right place, and the right way
to touch your woman can mean a world of difference in how she feels
about YOU.
And
touching doesn't always need to be serious. Keeping things
light-hearted and fun can enrich both your lives tremendously.
Here are
some tips I've learned in many years as a therapist, author, and in
extensive interviews with women:
1.
Touching your woman is also about touching her heart. A genuine smile
(naughty or nice) along with sincere acknowledgements and compliments
can create an immediate attraction to you.
2. Have
fun with touch! Make it a game or light hearted challenge for yourself
to find what touch she wants and how you want to touch her.
3. Run
your fingers up and down her spinal area, top to bottom. You'll wake up
nerves running through her whole body. Many woman like being touched in
spots that are uniquely feminine such as caressing down both sides of
her body to define her figure.
4. Touch
her as though there is nothing else in the world but the two of you
together for that period of time.
Touch is
one of the most powerful ways of being intimate with your woman. It
lets her know you want her and she's important to you.
Appropriate
touch and timing leads to sex for many women. You could say that almost
any touch you give her is foreplay. So, stimulate her libido! Don't be
surprised if she returns the touch right back to you - a move most men
find highly enjoyable and rewarding.
There are
scientific reasons why touch is so important to all of us and a great
activity to promote health and well being. Touch for both men and women
releases endorphins and stimulates oxytocin. This often decreases
stress and pain, while increasing her affection and sexual response.
Hollywood
has convinced us that how a person LOOKS determines how attractive they
are to others, but that's only part of the story. Touch is an immensely
powerful and often looked factor, especially for women.
Something
about your woman makes you want to be with her - so go ahead and touch!
Flirt
outrageously with your touch. Eventually you'll be the ultimate "touch
your woman" man. Its a win-win situation for both of you.
