Making Exercise Fun!
By:
Tawera Schmidt
The
Americans couldn't have cared any lesser for exercises had it not been
the expanding waistlines that caught them unawares. The upward spiral
of the waist has given them a rude jolt making them suddenly wake up to
the importance of exercise. The effects of the sedentary lifestyle have
started reflecting in the form of obesity. Obesity causes harmful
diseases such as diabetes, heart disease and even liver failure. So for
a healthy living it is important to go for a nutritious and balanced
diet and to exercise.
The
unpleasant connotations of exercise come from the image of overactive
aerobics teachers in skimpy skintight outfits making people work out
constantly. What happens is that excessive exercise leads to
frustration and exhaustion and the enthusiasm to reduce weight dies
down. They go back to their sedimentary lifestyle. This is the wrong
way to go about it. Instead, if you do regular exercise for fifteen
minutes over a period of time instead of all at once, you will be
healthier than those who work out for an hour a week.
The
easiest way to exercise is to include a friend or family member.
Working out in numbers allows you to draw strength and motivation from
your partner, in addition to performing tasks that require another
individual. If you cannot find a work out partner, look to joining an
exercise group. Many gyms, fitness centers, and community groups
provide exercise lessons for no or a minimal charge. This is a great
way to meet friends and regain your healthy lifestyle.
Set a
reachable goal when it comes to exercising. Perhaps your goal is
exercising a given amount of time each week. Maybe you are striving to
run a mile without stopping or increase your stamina level on the
stationery bike. Whatever your goal, be sure to set on that is well
within your reach.
It is not
unusual for people to do goal setting as short-term and long-term goals
that they strive to achieve. The long-term goal might be to pursue the
aim of a healthy life while the short-term goal might be to increase
your stamina for baseball. As soon as you're through with the
short-term goal maintain your progress towards healthy and happy living.
If you are
on a budget, then choose to exercise at home. This is often fulfilling
and will provide you with more motivation, since you do not have to
travel anywhere to pursue your exercise. You may need to purchase a few
basic items, such as weights or mats, when beginning your home gym.
Many individuals invest in a stair climber or tread mill in order to
best perform in their home.
When the
weather permits, move your exercising outdoors. For beginners, take a
stroll around the block. If you are more ambitious, turn that stroll
into a quick jog. Use opportunities to play with your children as time
for exercise. Play a game of baseball, basketball, football, soccer, or
plain old tag with your kids.
The
greatest advantage of joining a gym is being able to use various types
of equipment available there. Moreover, once you have made a financial
commitment you get enough motivation to work out regularly.

Can Energy Drinks Help You Lose
Weight?
By: Lana Hampton
Energy
drinks are liquid soda-style beverages that are boosted by the
inclusion of 'energy boosting' ingredients including sugar, caffeine
and other caffeine-like substances like ephedrine, and guarana. Some
energy drinks also have vitamins, “acid stabilizers” or other
nutritious-sounding ingredients, too. With all of these ingredients one
might well ask whether energy drinks can help you achieve your weight
loss goals by giving you the boost you need to exercise consistently.
Red Bull,
Jolt, Amp and Hype are four of the more commonly known energy drinks.
Energy drinks themselves are classified as "functional beverages" which
means that they do not form part of the bigger nutraceutical food or
dietary supplement industry. So because energy drinks are not
classified as either a food or a dietary supplement, they are not
regulated nor monitored by the Food and Drug Administration.
The aim of
energy drinks is to boost your energy for physical activity and to
improve your ability to concentrate on a specific task. Many believe
these drinks can provide the energy they need to perform their exercise
routine. But whatever you do, you should not confuse energy drinks with
sports drinks. Sports drinks are specially formulated to help provide
energy to tired muscles and to help the body absorb water and glucose
(sugar) – energy drinks are not designed to do this.
While
sports drinks are at their most beneficial if your workout is going to
exceed an hour or so, plain water is generally a preferred option for
quenching your thirst and replenishing your body fluid. Energy drinks,
on the other hand, dehydrate rather than hydrate so this is why they
are not designed for assistance with sports, but rather just to give
you that quick energy-based pick me up.
While many
people might claim that energy drinks are good for you if you are
playing sports, the truth is that they are good for short bursts of
activity and mental alertness only. It is vital that if you are
consuming energy drinks that you know what you are drinking. Energy
drinks are not necessarily bad for you, but they shouldn't be seen as
natural substitutes for health supplements either. Some of the
marketing for energy drinks claim that they "improve performance" and
can be misleading because essentially all you are doing is over
stimulating your body with caffeine.
There is
not very much that is currently known about energy drinks and the
effects that their consumption can have on a person’s overall health
and wellbeing. The creators, manufacturers and marketers of energy
drinks will tell you about the numerous health effects of their
products. Their messages will tell you that these products can increase
your physical endurance, improve your reaction times, boost your mental
alertness and concentration, increase your overall wellbeing, stimulate
and even speed up your metabolism, improve your stamina and help
eliminate waste from your body.
Ideally,
energy drinks should not be used by someone exercising for a sustained
period of time because the combination of fluid loss from sweating and
the diuretic quality of the caffeine can leave the drinker feeling
severely dehydrated at a time when their body needs to be replenished
with fluids.
So, what
is the deal with energy drinks and why are they so popular? Well quite
simply, if you manage your consumption at only one or two a day, then
energy drinks won’t harm you and in fact can help you improve your
day-to-day activities. Their super-concentrated stimulating ingredients
will indeed wake you up and help you to improve the way that you
conduct and perform simple mental tasks. There is plenty of sugar and
caffeine in energy drinks though, so you should be sure that you
minimize your consumption to one or two drinks a day at the most. Any
more and you could well experience side effects.

Watching Vitamin Supplement And
Herbs
By: I Henman
Be careful
about substituting a vitamin supplement and herbs for a balanced diet.
Some vitamin supplements can be toxic when taken in excess. Although
some herbs are wonderful to cook with you don’t want to rely on them
when you have a condition that merits a visit to the doctor.
Take
garlic for example. Garlic is a member of the onion family and no cook
should be without it. Some people refer to garlic as the “natural
antibiotic.” These are the same people however, that take a handful of
processed garlic pills when they feel a cold or some perceived or real
infection coming on instead of seeing their doctor.
Now I
don’t see my doctor for every cold. But if I think I need an antibiotic
I’m going for the real McCoy. Besides, garlic has blood thinning
capabilities and we get enough of the good stuff by cooking with it.
Yet I know people who pop those garlic pills to ward off anything they
think they are coming down with without any regard to the possible
interaction of these garlic pills with another vitamin supplement and
herbs and/or their prescription medicine.
Another
thing to consider regarding garlic: Even if you aren’t taking blood
thinning medication, you don’t want to have consumed a lot of garlic
before you have surgery because you need your blood to clot. That
doesn’t mean you can’t have your favorite spaghetti sauce before having
surgery, but it could be harmful to take a lot of garlic supplements
before surgery.
If you
believe you need a vitamin supplement and herbs daily you should check
with your doctor before consuming large amounts of any supplement as
some of these can have toxic effects. Manufactures of vitamin
supplements and herbs, unlike manufacturers of drugs, do not have to
prove that their products are safe before they are put on the market.
The FDA regulates these dietary supplements as food and not as drugs
and so after a product like this causes a problem or is unsafe then the
FDA can take action.
The FDA is
watching though. In December 2005, they sent out warning letters to
nine companies that were promoting their dietary supplements could
prevent, treat or cure bird flu. When the label reads like that, then
the FDA has to look at it like a drug and not food. That is why on all
or nearly all vitamin supplement and herbs labels you’ll see the
disclaimer that says something like, “ These statements have not been
evaluated by the FDA and we’re not saying they will cure you.” That’s a
rough paraphrase but you get the idea.
In the
end, we are the ones responsible for what we put into our bodies. Check
with your doctor before you believe any outrageous vitamin supplement
and herbs claims.

Comic Relief
A little girl and her mother were
out and about.
Out of the blue, the girl asked her mother, "Mommy, How old are you?"
The mother responded, "Honey, women don't talk about their age. You'll
learn this as you get older."
The girl then asked, "Mommy, how much do you weigh?"
Her mother responded again, "That's another thing women don't talk
about. You'll learn this, too, as you grow up."
The girl, still wanting to know about her mother, then fired off
another question, "Mommy, why did you and Daddy get a divorce?"
The mother, a little annoyed by the questions, responded, "Honey, that
is a subject that hurts me very much, and I don't want to talk about it
now."
The little girl, frustrated, sulked until she was dropped off at a
friend's house to play. She consulted with her girlfriend about her and
her mother's conversation.
The girlfriend said, "All you have to do is sneak a look at your
mother's driver's license. It's just a like a report card from school.
It tells you everything."
Later, the little girl and her mother were out and about again.
The little girl started off with, "Mommy, Mommy, I know how old you
are. I know how old you are. You're 32 years old."
The mother was very shocked. She asked, "Sweetheart, how do you know
that?"
The little girl shrugged and said, "I just know. And I know how much
you weigh. You weigh 130 pounds."
"Where did you learn that?"
The little girl said, "I just know. And I know why you and Daddy got a
divorce. You got an 'F' in sex."
Antiaging
Skin Care
By:
Nitin Jain
‘Antiaging skin care’
is a very poplar concept in today’s world. Today everyone wants to hide
their age using antiaging
skin care procedures (and a number of people are successful too).
However antiaging skin care is not achieved
by any magic potion. ‘Antiaging skin care’ is about discipline. It is
about being proactive. Antiaging skin care
is retarding the ageing process. Here are a few tips for proactive
antiaging skin care:
1.
Maintain healthy eating habits: A well balanced diet is the key to
maintaining a proper body metabolism. Eat a lot of
fruits and vegetables (raw), they are the best source of fibre and have
a very refreshing effect on your
body.
Avoid oily and fatty food; not only do they lack in essential nutrients
but also cause obesity and other diseases
which aid the aging process
2. Beat
stress: This is probably the most important antiaging skin care
measure. Stress disturbs the body metabolism
and accelerates the aging process. Sleep, exercise and a relaxing bath,
are all good ways of beating stress.
Aroma-therapy is also known to bust stress.
3. Drink a
lot of water: Antiaging skin care can’t be any simpler than this. Water
helps in flushing out the toxins from the
body, hence keeping it clean and making it less prone to disease.
Around 8 glasses of water (per day) is recommended
by all doctors.
4. Regular
exercise is a wonderful antiaging skin care procedure. Besides toning
your muscles, it also helps in cleaning
the skin by flushing out the toxins in the form of sweat. Exercise
should be followed by a warm shower in order to
completely remove the toxins.
5. Avoid
the use of strong, chemical based products on your skin. Natural skin
care products are a good option. Use of organic
skin care products (home made or commercial) can be a very effective
antiaging skin care measure.
6. Do not
overuse skin care products. Excessive and harsh application, both are
harmful.
7. Do not
ignore skin disorders; it can lead to permanent skin damage. Try over
the counter medication and if that doesn’t
help, immediately visit your dermatologist and seek his/her advice.
8. Vitamin
C based skin care products are very popular means of antiaging skin
care. However, these seem to oxidise very
quickly (which makes them harmful for the skin). So store them
properly. If the product turns Yellowish brown, it means
that vitamin c has oxidised and the prodct is no longer suitable for
use.
9. Protect
your skin against UV radiation ; UV rays are known to speed up the
aging process. So, a good sunscreen lotion
should be a part of your antiaging skin care routine.

Intend It!
By:
Aaron Potts
How much
of a shock would it be for you to realize that in order to get
everything that could ever want in the world, all you have to do is
INTEND to get it?
Seems
simple and unrealistic, doesn’t it? The truth of the matter is that you
can have anything that you want by simply Intending to have it. Let’s
start with the basics of using this “intending” technique, and learn
why it is so powerful.
Anything
that you ever do in the world – at least while you are conscious – is
done by you first intending to do that thing. Human beings are
creatures with complete control over our bodies, and we decide what
happens and what doesn’t. Obviously – and thankfully – this does not
apply to things like breathing, controlling the operation of our
internal organs, and other autonomic processes. It is possible to exert
control over those things, but that is a subject for another time.
For now,
let’s just agree that if we decide to stand up, sit down, write a
letter, drink a beverage, go for a bike ride, buy a cup of coffee, eat
a pizza, take a nap, play a video game…. the list goes on and on. All
of these things would be done because we made a conscious decision to
do them – we intended for them to happen.
Pretty
easy to follow so far, but let’s throw a wrench into the monkey works.
If you can intend to do pretty much anything that you can imagine – and
successfully pull it off – why can’t you intend to be rich? Why can’t
you intend to have perfect health? Why can’t you intend to have a
satisfying personal life?
The answer
is simple – you can! However, since you have not seen this amazing
power of intention do anything other than allow you to control your day
to day life, you have trouble believing that it is capable of so much
more than that. Therein lies the trouble – you don’t believe it, so you
can’t see in your mind’s eye that anything is possible by simply
intending for it to happen!
That being
the case, you have to train yourself to believe in the power of
intention by practicing it. You are already proficient at using this
power to accomplish day to day tasks, so let’s take it to another –
although still believable – level.
Pick 7
things that you know with 100% confidence that you can do, but that you
don’t already do on a consistent basis. Here are a few examples,
although you should come up with ideas that are appropriate to your
specific situation. Also, these should be things that can be done over
the short-term, usually within one day. The idea here is to train
yourself to believe that you can wield this incredible power of
intention.
I intend
to leave the house on time today and not be running late. I intend to
have a smile for each person that I see at work today. I intend to stay
caught up on my email or voicemail all day today. I intend to get
outside for at least 30 minutes today to get some sun or some fresh
air. I intend to think about something that makes me happy during my
drive home today. I intend to show gratitude to my spouse and my
children today. I intend to get to bed on time tonight and get at least
7 hours of sleep.
Are you
starting to see the point of this exercise? None of these things are
very difficult, and none of them are very time consuming, either. In
fact, most of them will not take you any time at all. However, each of
them represents something that you normally don’t accomplish on a
consistent basis, let alone every single day.
Disregarding
for the moment the positive impact that actually doing those things
will have on your life, the point of the exercise is for you to intend
for all of those things to happen, and then to follow through with that
intention.
By doing
so, you have proven to yourself that you have the power – with little
or no time expenditure – to do things that you otherwise would never
have done. By intending to do those things, and then following through
on that intention, you have started to develop confidence in your
abilities to control your life, and to make things happen simply by
intending for them to happen.
Now that
your “training” is over, move onto something bigger. Intend to not
raise your voice at home or at work for 5 days straight. Intend to
watch 30 minutes less of TV for those same 5 days. Intend to get up 10
minutes earlier for each of those 5 days. Intend to compliment your
children or your spouse on something for 5 days in a row. Intend to
drink 1 less cup of a caffeinated or sugar-filled beverage during each
of those 5 days.
Now assess
what you have accomplished in just 5 days: Between getting up only
marginally earlier and by just partially limiting your TV time, you
have added 200 minutes to your life that you can do whatever you want
to do with. You have become a more pleasant person to be around at home
and at work, and your family loves all of the compliments that you have
been showering them with. You have eliminated 5 cups of caffeine or 5
cups of diabetes causing sugar from your diet.
You
accomplished all of that in just 5 days! If you can do all of that in
just 5 days, imagine what you can do by using the power of intention to
gain wealth, overcome personal limitations, or simply enjoy your life
to the fullest. Practice it every day, every week, every month, and
every year. You can literally accomplish anything that you can imagine
by simply intending for it to happen. The power is limitless, as is
what you intend to do with it!
By the
way, just a few minutes ago, you intended to read this. Now look at how
much better off you are already!

Viagra
By: Judgine Peterson
Some time
ago, researchers said Viagra for women project unfeasible. However, the
Canadians managed to dispel that myth. Despite the difference of sex
between men and women, researchers found that very fulcrum, which will
help bring the joy of sex medicine by the women who are deprived of
that because of reduced libido. The main achievement was the
development of Canadian scientists gormonalno-podobnogo substance
PT-141 operating on the receptors in the brain, thereby increasing
sexual promiscuity among women ...
The secret
